Man Arrested At Courthouse On Drug Charges

A Lawrenceburg man was arrested while at the courthouse last week after law enforcement officers received a tip, indicating that he was selling drugs.

Chazton Joey Joiner, age 23, of 279 South Hood Road was approached by Lawrenceburg Police officers while he was inside the Lawrence County Courthouse Thursday morning.

Officers report that when confronted about the tip, Joiner denied being in possession of any type of narcotics.

Officers report that they obtained consent to search Joiner’s 1999 Toyota 4 Runner. During the search they report seizing four grams of marijuana, a syringe, and thirty morphine pills.

Joiner allegedly claimed ownership of the marijuana, but told officers that the pills were “for someone else.” He told them that the syringe did not belong to him, either.

Joiner was placed under arrest on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of Schedule II narcotics for the purpose of resale.

He was booked through the Lawrence County Detention Center where he was incarcerated under a $24,000 bond.

Joiner has been scheduled an initial appearance in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on June 6, 2013.
